With verruca needling the podiatrist will carefully needle the verruca (under local anaesthetic) to implant the virus into the dermal layer of the skin so that the body’s immune system can come into contact with the virus. This creates a controlled inflammatory response which stimulates the body’s immune system to recognise the virus and destroy it; this can be very helpful in resolving verrucae elsewhere on the feet and it is highly effective even for long-standing verrucae.
